A few ideas I return to when I think about leadership, people and performance.

Pressure reveals leadership

Pressure does not create the leader

When the plant is under pressure or the shift is difficult, a leader’s patterns become visible. Pressure shows how they make decisions, communicate and respond when people need clarity. It reveals leadership rather than creating it.

The Power Pause

A deliberate pause returns something useful

Building deliberate pauses into the day creates room for reflection and balance. A ten minute break returns you more productive. It is a small practice, but it changes the quality of attention you bring back to the work.

Accountability and engagement

Accountability is part of engagement

Accountability is a common struggle for leaders. I see a connection between the two: when organisations become more accountable, engagement rises with it. Leaders often need confidence, support and encouragement to hold their people to account.

The moment of choice

Notice the thoughts that help or hinder

In the moment, some thoughts help us make better choices and some thoughts get in the way. Positive Intelligence is about emotional regulation and identifying that difference. Noticing the thought gives a leader more room to choose how to respond.
